Rock Island Animal Hospital is a full-service hospital offering excellent veterinary surgical care for pets in the Quad Cities. Our experienced team performs routine surgery as well as advanced surgical procedures:

What to Expect

We understand that surgery can be stressful for you and your pet. Rock Island Animal Hospital is AAHA®-Accredited, and we strictly adhere to prescribed veterinary standards to ensure your pet receives high-quality surgical care.

All our pet surgeries involve anesthesia. Before surgery, we perform a full physical exam and pre-anesthetic bloodwork to verify that your pet is ready for the procedure.
The day of surgery begins with early morning admission to our facility where we practice Fear-Free® techniques to make our patients feel comfortable and safe.
During surgery, we administer IV fluids and heat therapy while closely monitoring your pet’s heart rate, blood pressure, arterial oxygen level, and body temperature. We also use an electrocardiogram (EKG) to evaluate overall cardiac health.
Following surgery, we carefully observe your pet during the recovery period and provide detailed instructions regarding at-home care and exercise limitations. We also prepare a personalized pain management protocol tailored to your pet’s overall needs.
